Frequently Asked Questions
Coming out swing dancing is a great way to meet new people. Swing dancing has always been a social dance. We encourage everyone to ask new people to dance every night, and we rotate partners in the lessons. It's especially important if you want to meet new people to come to the lesson. People you meet in the lesson, you've already danced with and you can easily ask them to dance later in the night!
Wear what is comfortable for you! Some people dress up, some people dress vintage, and other people wear jeans and a T-shirt. We especially recommend comfortable shoes, and most of the women do not prefer wearing heals since they need to be able to move quickly and comfortably. We recommend tennis shoes over shoes that are going to hurt your feet or make you uncomfortable.
We love our venue and location in part because of the fact that we are regularly drawing a crowd that ranges in age between 16 and 80. We get many people of all ages every week!.
We are primarily an East Coast Swing and Lindy Hop venue. We teach lessons in those two dances. You may also see Balboa, Charleston, Collegiate Shag or many other vintage dances from the 20's thru the 50's. A few times a month we open a second room for dancing and host a full fledge West Coast Swing dance!
Come to a few of our lessons, and if you have questions, ask any of the instructors, we'd love to help! If you are interested in learning more, please talk to us about private lessons, additional classes that we run, and other things that we can do to make you more comfortable and help you learn to dance at whatever level you wish!
