This is perfect class to get you out on the floor and dancing in just one hour and best of all it's included with admission. From 8pm - 9pm each Friday in the grand ballroom we'll take you through the basic steps and throw in a few cool moves to make your evening of dancing fun. This is a social class and has the option of rotating partners. No partner is needed.
Time: Noon-4pm Date: Saturday, March 20th Where: Midtown Stomp
Two tracks and lots of great classes! Either join us for a Beginning Lindy Hop Boot
Camp with Ron and Jeanne, or work on moving beyond Intermediate Lindy Hop with Peter and Audrey.
For beginning dancers, learn the basics of Lindy Hop and get started on this great dance.
If you're already familiar with the basics, Peter and Audrey will be challenging you with some
exciting ideas, movements and ways of thinking about the dance and the music.
The workshop is only $40 pre-registered or $45 at the door. Register now along with a April
series class for only $85 until April 5th, or with two April series classes for only $105. The
Boot Camp and Beginning Lindy Hop series go great together. The Intermediate Lindy Hop Workshop,
and Mix and Match classes match up great.
The most common question we get is "Do I need a partner?" The lessons are social and rotate partners, and a partner is not required. However, if you come with a partner and would not like to rotate, that's okay too.
We encourage students to rotate partners because many of our dancers are social and like to meet and dance with new people. The more people you dance with, the more comfortable you become adapting to new partners.
Not everybody is at Midtown Stomp to social dance, however, and that's great, too. Our instructors will ask at the beginning of each class who is not rotating. We will set up a part of the circle for couples and the rotation will skip over those couples.
The Eastern Star Ballroom is a great place to come for couples and we encourage everyone to enjoy dancing in the way that makes them the most comfortable. We will also happily reserve space at a table with a great view of the stage and dancers for anyone who would like a reserved seat.
In terms of etiqutte, very often we emphasize acceptable reasons to turn down a dance. If you would not like to dance socially, letting someone know that you're here with your husband or date and not dancing socially is a perfectly good reason to turn down a dance.
